Sinister Proxy fetches websites from our server's IP address on behalf of people with an approved key. If you think someone used it to break the law or our terms, tell us.
How to report
Use the report form at the bottom of this page, or message @oliverexists on Discord. Please include:
- the date and time (with time zone) and the website or address involved;
- what happened, and any evidence (screenshots, log lines, emails);
- how we can reach you.
Website owners and hosting providers can identify our traffic by our server's IP address. If you're not sure an address is ours, send a report with the address and times and we'll check.
Don't send us illegal material itself. For child sexual abuse material, report it to the NCMEC CyberTipline as well (or your own country's hotline).
What we do
- We confirm we got the report, normally within 3 days.
- We check our records. The access log keeps destinations (website and page path, without search terms), times and IP addresses for at most 7 days, so report quickly; after that we may only be able to see who was active.
- If a key was clearly misused, we turn it off at once. Turning a key off ends its open connections within a minute, and the person can't request a new one. Serious or repeated cases may also have their network blocked.
- If it's unclear, we may limit or pause the key while we look into it, and may contact the key holder through Discord.
- We tell the reporter what we did, without sharing the key holder's personal details unless the law requires it.
What happens to a reported key
- Confirmed misuse: the key is turned off and the person is blocked from requesting another. Their record (Discord ID and the reason) is kept so the block holds.
- Not confirmed: the key stays on; we keep a note of the report for 90 days.
- Requests from authorities: we respond to valid legal requests as the law requires, and share only what we actually hold (see the privacy policy).
